"宍道湖産しじみの貝殻を布で包み、真菰とチェコビーズ、ガラスビーズを組み合わせたマルチカラーのタッセルをあしらったイヤリング。
真菰とビーズの異なる素材感のミックスで、どことなくボヘミアンな雰囲気に。
裏は革張りとなっており、シリコンゴム付きの金具で耳当たりがソフトです。
イヤリングパーツは、金属アレルギーの出にくいサージカルステンレス製。

〜出雲自生真菰〜
イネ科の多年草で、沼や川に群生します。
大きく分けて、自生種と品種改良された栽培種があります。
古代より出雲の地で命を繋いできた自生の真菰。
日本人にとって、穀物、薬草、生活用品、家屋などに使用し、とても身近な植物でした。
稲よりその歴史は古く、縄文時代から“神宿る草”として、
ご神事、ご神体、ご神具として使われてきました。
出雲大社の御本殿の注連縄は、今でも真菰で作られており、
毎年替えられます。
また、6月1日には真菰神事が行われ、出雲の地にとってなくてはならない植物です。
葉、茎、種、根まで全草が使われます。
古代より薬草としても使われ、毒素を排出し、自然治癒力を高めるために使われました。
ケイ素が特に多く含まれています。
現代においても、飾る、お茶、食べる、お風呂に入れるなど、使い方は多岐にわたります。
水質の浄化力も高く、宍道湖などの水質浄化などにも使われています。

Beaded Makomo Tassel Clip-On Earrings
These earrings combine clam shells from Lake Shinji wrapped in fabric with multicolored tassels made of makomo grass, Czech beads, and glass beads.
The contrasting textures of natural makomo and shimmering beads create a relaxed, slightly bohemian look.
The back is finished with genuine leather, and the metal fittings come with silicone pads for added comfort.
The earring posts are made of 316 surgical stainless steel, known for being hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin (individual results may vary).

Izumo Wild Makomo (Manchurian Wild Rice):
Makomo (Zizania latifolia), a perennial plant of the grass family, naturally grows in wetlands, rivers, and marshes across Japan. There are two main types: naturally occurring wild varieties and selectively bred cultivated types.
In Izumo, wild makomo has been growing since ancient times, deeply woven into the culture and daily life of the Japanese people. It has been used as food, medicine, household goods, and even building material.
Makomo’s history in Japan predates that of rice. Since the Jomon period, it has been revered as a sacred plant believed to house divine spirits. It has long been used in Shinto rituals and for crafting sacred objects.
Even today, the shimenawa (sacred straw ropes) at the main hall of Izumo Taisha Shrine, one of Japan’s most important spiritual sites, are made from wild makomo and renewed annually. A special Makomo Ritual is held on June 1st each year, underscoring the plant’s deep spiritual connection to the land of Izumo.
Every part of the plant—leaves, stems, seeds, and roots—is utilized. Traditionally used as a medicinal herb, makomo is known for its detoxifying properties and its ability to enhance the body’s natural healing power. It is particularly rich in silica, an essential mineral for overall health.
Today, makomo continues to enrich daily life in many forms:
